As well as shopping and grabbing a bite to eat, there's lots to do within just a minute's walk of Yate Shopping Centre with Yate Library, Yate Leisure Centre and the Armadillo youth cafe. There's plenty more to do in the area with South Gloucestershire being a great place to spend a day, weekend or longer!

Yate Shopping Centre holds free events and entertainment for families across the year. From street entertainers and talent shows to fair ground rides and celebrity visits, we're always keen to put on a show and add a bit of fun to our customer's visit to Yate.

  • Yate is mentioned in the Domesday book way back in 1086 and the first recorded mention was three hundred years earlier in 770
  • The name Yate is derived from Old English meaning 'a gateway into a forest area' (during medievel times most of the area was still covered in forest)
  • Yate was designated an area of development in the 1960's and boomed with building developments (including Yate Shopping Centre!)
  • Yate has a stretch of unused dual carriageway that has been used for filming TV shows such as Casualty
